Cultural Resources Consultant

We are seeking an energetic professional with experience working within the State of Washington. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a Master's degree in archeology or related discipline, at least 5 years of job experience, strong field skills, and knowledge of local tribes, with experience and contacts in the Washington region. Candidates will have broad expertise in archaeology, in-depth knowledge of cultural resources issues, and extensive experience in all phases of Section 106 of the NHPA, SEPA, and NEPA compliance and Washington Executive Order 05-05. Senior and Mid-level Botanists with rare plant survey experience in California deserts

Garcia and Associates (GANDA), a natural and cultural resources consulting firm, seeks to employ botanists at several levels of experience.  We anticipate filling multiple positions at the field biologist level, as well as the project management level for applicants with extensive project management or senior level consulting experience.  Senior Botanist will be tasked with managing large-scale field projects in the southern California region.  Botanists would be stationed out of the Palm Springs/Palm Desert office but should expect to travel to projects throughout the southern California region.  Projects will be based primarily in the southern California desert regions, though travel for jobs managed out of other offices may occur occasionally.  Applicants should expect extensive field work and project-related travel.  The minimum education requirement for the senior position is a M.S. degree in botany or related field (B.S. minimum for mid-level).  Prior experience in natural resource consulting is very desirable.  Experience with California desert flora, riparian communities, wetlands, restoration of habitats and resource impact assessments is also desired.  Highly qualified applicants will possess solid writing, communication and computer skills. In addition, they shall have a familiarity with standard sampling and analytical techniques, in particular, for rare plant surveys.  Applicants for the senior botanist position should have experience managing projects and staff.  The flexibility to work on a variety of diverse tasks and a willingness to learn and adapt to a wide range of natural resource issues is a basic requirement for this position.

Prehistoric Archaeological Project Manager

Garcia and Associates (GANDA) is seeking a Project Manager to work from our Oceanside office in San Diego County, California.  Specifically, we are looking for a prehistoric archaeologist with a minimum of a Master’s degree who has experience with the following:

Senior Aquatic Ecologist

Responsibilities: Job responsibilities include leading a team of several aquatic biologists. Applicant will provide senior fisheries or benthic macroinvertebrate expertise and will be responsible for technical oversight of aquatics projects, project management, and some business development. Typical projects include impact assessment, mitigation planning, technical writing, data analysis, and modeling in compliance with NEPA, state environmental quality acts, FERC regulations, ESA, etc. Position will entail a combination of field and office work. Applicant must be willing and able to work on a variety of tasks and issues and handle tight deadlines.

Qualifications: The person hired will be based in the San Anselmo, San Francisco, or Auburn CA offices. Minimum education is an M.S. degree in aquatic ecology, fisheries science or related field. Experience in consulting, especially with aquatic resource impact assessments pertaining to hydropower and water resource development, is highly desirable. Qualified applicants will possess solid writing, communication, and computer skills, and be familiar with standard fisheries sampling and analytical techniques. Experience with hydrology, geomorphology, stream habitat assessment, and water quality assessment is also desirable.
